Nice gain in the stock market today. The S&P 500 is at 1706.

Good way to begin a new month.

I am looking to enter the market with my first ever investments in 2 Roth IRAs and 1 taxable account. Should I buy in now (VTSMX, VGTSX, VBMFX) or wait for some magical time, say end Aug/early Sept when there are some QE related meetings?

I know I shouldn't time the market but I need to make a decision on this. Help me please

Yep it took approximately 4 years to get back to where you were before the "crash".

I wish I knew back in 2007 even half of what I now know about making gains in the stock markets during economic downturns.

It was a golden opportunity. Live and learn.

Now in the middle of August, I wanted to update that the stock markets are continuing to take a breather - as was expected - after a strong 18% run in the first 5 months of this year. Things have come back down to earth, which is a good thing.

For the long term, fundamentals are looking good - GDP is going higher, unemployment is going lower, companies earnings are going higher ... All of this bodes well for the stock market.

I figured it was a good time to do some rollovers which would invariably keep us out of the market for a couple of weeks.

1,726 ... new Fed-fueled all-time closing high for that broad market index

...monetary climate—primarily the trend in interest rates and Federal Reserve policy—is the dominant factor in determining the stock market’s major direction. -- the late Martin E. Zweig (emphasis mine)

I wonder where this guy is now who joke about my comment back in Jan 2013 when I said I am never sell sell sell when S&P was at 1500??

Well guess what, its at 1730 today and I am still holding since 2009 in my 401k and Roth IRA and haven't sold none of my index funds and never will, til time to re-allocate.

Who cares about historical understanding. I am still buying buying and holding and I know nothing about stock market. Still buying buying buying and never sell sell sell

If you have some dough sitting on the sidelines, you may want to try to find a spot to put it to work in the market.

This historic bull market seems to be marching on to birthday number FIVE in March 2014...
You got that right!! Its still rocking and rolling. Let it keep going up up up.

Yep, I am learning alot, best thing to do is nothing, and continue to buy.
