I prefer the indoor malls, so I would love for them to come back into popularity.

Well it'll be 30 years before that happens, as they are making their exit now.

I did a little research...there was an enclosed mall that opened last year in Sarasota, FL, last year. That was the first time in eight years an enclosed mall in the U.S. was built. The last one before that was in Jonesboro, AR, in 2006. I believe either Bonita Lakes in Meridian or Barnes Crossing in Tupelo was the last enclosed mall built in Mississippi.

And Bonita Lakes isn't doing too well either now I think.

There was a story on WJTV tonight on how both Jackson and Ridgeland officials are working to keep County Line Rd. from suffering the same fate as Metrocenter. Here's a transcript of the story:

I was totally about to put a link to that on here!

But yes, it's nice to see both Ridgeland & Jackson working together to preserve County Line Road, as a bastion of business, and as a strong economic base for the metro area!

I was just commenting last night, about how people don't want a County Line Road corridor in Gluckstadt, and I just can't stop thinking why wouldn't you want it?! County Line Road generates so much money for this state.

If you really don't know why then telling you would be a waste of time.

I remember there were plans to build an outlet mall in Gluckstadt (or is it considered Canton?), but it was scrapped. That could've potentially been the next County Line Rd.

Gluckstadt is considered Madison actually. It even has the same ZIP code as Madison and everything.

Why was that even on the table? Does the metro area need a second (if you count the one in Vicksburg, a third) outlet mall? Give me a Crate & Barrel, and a Dave & Busters. And an Imax theater. In other words, bring something new to the table.
