I'm relocating to Jacksonville, FL, and would like to know what are the best areas to live? I want to live in a nice area, but not too expensive. Thank you for your suggestions.

Jacksonville is one city, made up of the entire county.

Your ask is far too general.

What's your price range?
How much room?
Rent/own?
What do you want to be close to?
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Do you prefer newer, car-centric subdivisions with all your favorite national chains, or historic, walkable neighborhoods with unique shops, venues and happenings?

No - there was another post - about what it's like to be retired - since deleted. The original post was fine. Robyn

I moved it over to the Palm Beach board, based on your suggestion.

Considering the couple of comments and PM's that I've already received since then, they seem to really like it over there. It seems to have struck a cord with them.

Thanks!

I liked it too. But the original poster (and others - like me) might well have said - WTF in this thread. Robyn

Evidently I missed the post, but then I have been in the hospital the last couple of days and just scanning through the forum on my phone.

Your ask is far too general.

What's your price range? No interested in purchasing a home in Florida, because I'm renting mine out where I live now - in DC. I don't want to rent an apartment or townhouse out over $1,000.00.
How much room? -
Rent/own? - I would like to rent an 2-bedroom apartment.
What do you want to be close to? Shopping malls, close enough to drive to a beach, parks.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Fitness, Shopping, Going to museums.
Do you prefer newer, car-centric subdivisions with all your favorite national chains, or historic, walkable neighborhoods with unique shops, venues and happenings?
Yes, newer with favorite national chainsn venues and happenings.

I'm in my early 40's and just retired from the gov't, and I don't have any children. I'm been reading some of the suggestions, and I heard Melbourne(sp?) and St. John's is a nice area to live.

Thank you for taking the time out to answer my questions.
