Hey everyone. I want to reach out to all of Jacksonville. I and my partners are looking to open up our own night venue. What we want to know is what is that the Jacksonville people want to see in clubs that they don't have here. What would make in your opinion one of the best entertainment spots Jax has to offer. I really would love your input.

The clubs I always liked best in NYC were the smaller, more intimate clubs.

I especially liked the ones with multiple rooms, each with a slightly different vibe. You might go into one room and the vibe is mellow, lots of comfy sofas, oriental rugs on the floor, a DJ spinning in the corner, like a little opium den . The next room might be completely different.

Nell's is a very old, well-known club in NYC that did this well. The first floor had a huge long bar, then at the back of the room was the "Supper Club" area with a live Jazz band. Downstairs was the typical high-energy dance floor, and off the sides were quiet rooms with small bars, sofas and nice rugs on the floor.

On a completely separate note, now that I'm older , I like a more mellow hangout. Do you remember the old Wetlands Club in NYC? We have nothing like that in Jax. With eco-issues becoming "cooler" with each passing year, have you thought of doing a club like the Wetlands?

I hate the night life in Jacksonville. I used to live in Gainesville FL and the night life was awesome down there. I would love to see a club that is somewhat close to the beaches, near UNF because I hate going downtown. It would also be nice to see a club that is either goth, or does goth nights every week/ every other week.

Me too! I really like a lot of variety. I like the places like Speakeasy that are very very relaxed and intimate. They also have that fruit infused homemade vodka that is really good.

There's also the fun places like Market Street that are very casual and just have tons of different types of beer.

I remember Market Street!! I enjoyed going there. I loved going to Club Red, before it shut down, and University Club, the gay and lesbian club. I am straight, but a lot of my friends at the time were bi, so I went with them! It was definitely a lot of fun

Jacksonville definitely needs some variety other than the typical smokey club with trashy girls dancing around drunk. Those are a dime a dozen.
