I got a job interview in government next week, but they didn't review my resume, then called me to schedule the interview, I am afraid if they really want to interview me or not, because I don't want to take a risk to ask a day off, my current boss will not be happy about that. I ever had a government job interview, but it only lasted 10 minutes which made me very frustrated. My work is busy at this season, so it is hard for me to ask a couple of hours to leave for interview. The place for interview is a little bit far from my home. I am wondering if I go for it or cancel it, I need a advice ASAP , thanks!

Well if you go even if you don't get this job you can always use the interview as a "practice" interview. Is there any possible way that you can reschedule the interview for a later time for a "dr's" appointment?

How did you know that they did not review your resume? Anyways, I used to work in an HR office for a major city and usually the interviews are structured and conducted by a panel of interviewers. Is this interview part of the civil service examination or are they interviewing you for a specific position?
1) Go. It'll be good practice if nothing else. In the best case scenario, you'll score a good job.
2) Go. You're working in an environment where your boss will get mad at you for taking even a couple of hours off. That stinks. Maybe that changes if you interview for this job and get it.

They are interviewing me only for office clerk position, so many candidates passed the written test, they should review the resume ,then select some and set up interviews.

The interview can't be rescheduled, and I can't always use doctor's appointment as excuses. Because I know maybe I have other interviews in the next three month.
If you want the job, go to the interview. If you've decided that you are no longer interested in the job, cancel it.
You're obviously looking to change jobs anyway so what does it matter if the boss doesn't like it that you take a day off?
Actually my question is I am interested in working for government , but there are different working place in government, I don't like this one which is far from my home. I don't want cancel because I am afraid that I will not be considered as this position's candidate in other government department any more. And I am also not confident that I will get the job in that deparment, why should I take a risk to ask a couple of hours leave to interview, that is what i worried about. I would like to go to any interviews, but what excuses can i use to ask for leave next time?
Well, if you cancel this interview, it won't affect your ability to get another interview for a different government job, there are so many applicants for each position. The fact that you were even OFFERRED an opportunity to interview for a position is great, because the competition to even get to that point is very high. So...if you want to make a change, I would suggest going to any government interview that you get an opportunity to go to...and it usually takes 4 or 5 months from there, to your actual start date.
