My perception is this....................if you don't take notes your aren't that interested or professional. If I am a HM and you don't take notes I project you will do similar when you meet with clients.

Same here. It's actually a negative if the candidate doesn't at least have the ability to take notes during the interview. Similar to what was posted prior, I expect (or bring, if I'm the candidate)

A suit
Polished dress shoes
A portfolio with a note pad
Extra copies of my résumé
Pens
Predetermined questions to ask written on my pad
Any notes from prior interviews for this job
No purse for me, though

And

Phone stays in the car

Yeah no purse for me and I am glad I brought my phone, powered off, yesterday. I get to the door scan card only and no doorbell? Power up call him and opens door. But yes I used to just go to vibrate until, murphy's law, I am talking to the sales director and my phone keeps vibrating.

I've taken my tablet and used a stylus during my interviews. I even have a leather portfolio where my iPad sits instead of the traditional paper pad. I don't see anything wrong with this and if you can take notes with a stylus, there's a bet the interviewer wouldn't even notice.

I was interviewing for tech/management level positions.

I've done the same at conferences where I've taken notes on my tablet sitting next to people do the same thing. I wouldn't recommend this approach, however, if you do not use a stylus well.

Well, I wear them. Frankly that's not something I look at when Im the interviewer, if that's your question. But it's still good form and some places might care.

Trust me, many have seen them. If a person can't even take the time to wear something that looks decent for an interview, why would they ever go the extra mile on the job?

Exactly when would a interviewer have time to look at your shoes? You meet and greet and the initial thing the person sees is your face and suit. Then you go to sit down and when you leave not much attention is focused on your shoes.

When I am walking the interviewer from the lobby to the conference room. Knowing how people take care of things they don't think I will notice tells me more about their personality than they think.
