Is your block private, or owned by the city/county?

EDIT -- I REALLY wish I could do something about the speed-demon parents screaming down our street to drop their miserable little bastards off at school. Ever since they figured out they could bypass the traffic jam on Hollywood Blvd by cutting through our neighborhood, it's been hell from 7:30-9am on school days.

As far as driving through gated communites, if there's any construction going on, the gates are likely left open. I was able to just drive through a good chunk of The Ridges last time I was out there, because a lot of the houses were still being built, and the gates were left wide open.

I don't want a gate. Gates are effete. They're a pain in the butt. They don't significantly decrease crime because every resident's bozo landscaper has the code -- so the bozo landscaper's cousins all have the code, too. The only way a gate works is if it's guard gated with cameras and sign-in, sign-out. And even then the thieves can jump the fence.

What I want is either speed bumps, or permission to shoot anyone traveling faster than 50mph down my residential street with a 12-gauge.

Or they are like the condo complex down the road from me. They leave their gate open from dawn to dusk daily. No construction, just open.

Speed bumps won't work. The fire department will force their removal, even on private property.

Shooting speeders with a shotgun is more immediate and effective.

That's for illegal speed bumps. I want the legal, approved kind installed. A license to shoot speed freaks would work, too. I'd just have to lead them quite a bit considering their rate of travel.

Just bring your licensed real estate agent and they will get you into any neighborhood you desire. Do remember, these gated neighborhoods are PRIVATE and not open to the public.
