mattress comfort in these hot Las Vegas summers. I had a very good memory foam in So. Florida, and it was great for my bad back (very bad back) but it did get hot. I don't know about this new added Gel. Not sure if it really helps with heat issue. Just would like to stay clear of springs, and no, I can't afford a Tempopedic. Any first hand experience?

I bought the gel combo at Costco.. No heat. Was great at first but 7 months later, it seemed like one of the sides collapsed. I now have a $500 memory foam from samsclub. 6 months in, no problems whatsoever.

We've got the memory foam (no gel) and have no heat problems... but then again, we use the A/C pretty liberally when it's hot.

Tempurpedic here and no heat issues at all. Best bed I have ever slept in.

the people that I knew in LV with memory foam and Temperpedic mattresses like them and I guess because it's so dry, did not mention any heat problem. But here in Hawaii, they really do feel too warm, I could not stand them. There is a new "cool" mattress but it's really pricey. Serta, I think.

We have a Serta iComfort Prodigy in our Las Vegas house. It doesn't get too warm in the summer. I can definitely feel the difference between the gel memory foam and non-gel memory foam in the store display, but I don't know how that translates to actually sleeping on one.

If you're nervous about the non-gel memory foam being too hot, buy from a place that will allow you to exchange for a Serta or other gel memory foam bed if it turns out to be a problem. Many stores that carry Tempurpedic also carry Serta. We bought ours from that place in the same shopping center as the Lowe's on Ft Apache and Tropicana. I think it was Mattress Firm.

Latex all the way. It is not NEARLY as much of a heat sink as gel/memory foam. And we keep our house on the hot side -- 85f at night. So memory foam would be like a sauna. Bought ours at a "mattress roadshow" at Costco. Best $1,500 I've ever spent.

I have this one, or one similar from the same company: Amazon.com: Sleep Innovations 12-Inch SureTemp Memory Foam Mattress 20-Year Warranty, Queen: Home & Kitchen

I use a regular mattress pad on top of it in the summer because despite the "cool gel" it does tend to trap heat without the mattress pad and Vegas summers are pretty brutal.

It was really very cool unpacking it and watching it assume its final shape. It reminded me of those snake thingies that our parents used to light for us on the fourth of July. It more than quadrupled in size in a very short period of time.

I have yet to find a mattress that I can get 8 hrs sleep without my hip and side getting numb causing me to turn every hour.

Your post on latex started me reading about it. This may be a good possibility. I found some retailers with really good return/refund rules. One of them gives you 365 days.

Research resource. Pretty much a "trial & error" process based on personal preferences. Include Foam Factory and Arizona Premium Mattress in your research.
