As some of you know, we bought a house here in July and just moved here at the end of October. Before that, we'd been visiting since 1996 but usually we just stuck to the Strip as a lot of people do.

Now that we live here, I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for interesting things we should see and do, stuff a little more off the beaten path? Thanks for any suggestions!

Why not try everything that the city has to offer? Grab ALL of the local publications(newspapers, magazines) and find things to do to your interest.

All of these and check the R/J online for discount tickets to various shows. You can also check out Anthony Curtis' Las Vegas Advisor - Las Vegas Coupons Hotels News and Shows [also good for visitors]

A lot of local casinos have shows at very good prices.

If you want something unusual, take a trip to Hoover Dam and go through downtown Boulder City. There's a park just before you go down the steep hill to the dam where it is very likely you will see a herd of Bighorn sheep grazing. DO NOT stop at the Hacienda Hotel/Casino as it's a tourist trap.

You want a professional slot machine player's take on Vegas, send me a private message and I'll give you the link to the book I wrote.

Bonnie Springs.
Cars and Coffee.

Everything already mentioned.

I just got back from Red Rock canyon for the second time in the 5 months I've lived here.

We just went for the first time today. I knew when we got back there'd be recommendations on City-Data for it. It's gorgeous there and we'll definitely go back. In addition to the scenery we saw a bunch of wild burros and a couple of foxes.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. We've seen the Hoover Dam a few times over the years and the Valley of Fire is practically in our back yard so we've gone through there several times. We'll definitely look into the other things everyone mentioned. Thanks again.

I've been all over Lake Mead but I've never done this cruise. It should be fun. Lake Mead Cruises offers a variety of sightseeing and meal cruises on Lake Mead aboard our delightful paddlewheel vessels.

BTW: Do you fish, hunt, hike, ski, bike, camp out?

DH and I were just discussing today that we want to get back into better shape (you know, other than round ) and want to start hiking again. Probably easy hikes we can bring our dogs on. But as for the rest of the list, no.
