Search it a bit and you will find lots of stuff. Basically the area around Nellis is quite rough. There is a reasonable apartment across the street from the main gate...but only for the urban and street wise without children.

For safe, you will want to commute. If you have school age children, you will want to commute even farther.

Nobody in their right mind lives next to Nellis AFB. Very rough area. And very loud with the planes taking off. Pets become easily traumatized.
Go near El Dorado/Aliante/Lone Mountain area, anywhere off of 215, north of Craig.
There are great apts, new,the commute isn't far, and it's near shopping and other things:

used to live on Nellis blvd....RIGHT below the departure end of the runway..... conversation would STOP.............................................. .................................................. .........then start again when the planes were gone......

I teach by Nellis AFB. I live 8 1/2 miles south. Hollywood & Lake Mead and south to about Charleston woul dbe okay. I live by Nellis & vegas valley. Ok but not great. Northwest past the Cannery is okay but traffic is heavy coming & going. The southeast is nice but it's a 20+ mile commute. Drive around - it will be obvious where NOT to live. I'm moving in August over toward Hollywood, Christy - probably the Stewart/Bonanza area.
