Most large houses have lots of "wasted" space. I designed and built a 5,600 sq ft house (2,800 sq ft single story house with a full, finished basement) that was very functional. It had everything I wanted and needed with no space that wasn't used. I would like to have everything it has again, but don't need it. I do miss the pool, pool table, wine cellar and home theater. Oh well, I had it all once as the saying goes. At least I didn't lose it in a card game, lol.

If you have lots of money, you build whatever you want. I know the lady who owns this home. It has one bedroom, lol. She said she and her partner didn't want house guests.

Wrong!! First off. Greed is one of the reasons this country is being ruined. Actually greed and power. Also I have had rental units and if I had a good tenant I would never raise the rent.

Sad that some people think this way in the world today. Sorry if this is what you think life is all about.

The floorplan was originally built on Tomiyasu for the National Association of Homebuilders Home of the Year.

Then, Tom Anderson had it duplicated in my neighborhood. (Tom founded Myspace and sold it to Rupert Murdoch for $560 million). He's rarely here. Eventually, he sold it and moved into yet another "NAB Home of the Year" a few doors down. But he's rarely in town.

Greed, properly directed, is the main reason the US became the richest and most powerful nation on Earth. Notice how socialism is cropping up now, and we're slipping? That's not a coincidence.

Year-over-year state decreases

Yearly declines in May were led by Mountain West states that saw an early influx of pandemic-related migration. Idaho and Nevada, along with the Pacific Northwest's Washington, each saw yearly declines greater than 5 percent. Arizona also saw a decline of just over 3.50 percent, while Utah declined nearly 1.5 percent. Oregon, another Pacific state, declined by nearly 1 percent.

Of the ten states that saw the largest yearly decreases, six were in the West, three were in the South, and one was in the Midwest.

Nevada (-7.46 percent)
Idaho (-6.90 percent)
Washington (-5.37 percent)
Texas (-3.98 percent)
Arizona (-3.57 percent)
Oklahoma (-3.19 percent)
Utah (-1.41 percent)
Illinois (-1.22 percent)
Maryland (-1.13 percent)
Oregon (-0.94 percent)

Raise the rent to what people can't afford and they will move out. Landlords here got greedy. Maybe the prices are more reasonable now and in line with other places. How long will they have to wait to fill vacancies? Maybe they will learn a lesson, but probably not.

And that's why government getting involved in rent control is a bad idea. I'm glad that didn't go anywhere this last legislature session. As we can see the market corrects itself, no need for government intervention. That would only make matters worse actually.

Looks like we have ourselves a pull string doll. This must be a new AI model. There should only be about 12 or more quotes left in that toy.

*Pulls string*

BBMW "Communism has killed 250 gabillion people and capitalism is the only system that allows for innovation."

*Pulls string again*

"We can't raise the minimum wage. Are you trying to pay $15 for a burger?"

*Pulls string again*

"Free college? Affordable college? Who's going to pay for that?"

Nevermind, this is still the old 2008 model.

Incorrect. I see you never studied economics at the University level. There are many good online courses if you're interested. Many of them don't even required mastery of calculus.

That's your choice as a landlord.

Incorrect.

Economics is the study of the efficient allocation of capital in a world of infinite wants and desires but decidedly finite resources.

You might enjoy learning about it, assuming you're willing to check your preconceived notions at the door.

Here's a nice free course you might enjoy:
