We moved to a community with an HOA. Much better. The key is finding one that is not run by Nazis.

some of those look pretty nice. We just renewed our rent here in OR. Rent went way the F up. Like $160. It's ridiculous how expensive it is in the greater PDX area.

There are places with low rent but you couldn't pay me to live in those areas. Drugs, homeless, and gang infested.

Our place is pretty nice 1550 sq feet our rent went way up like I said it's now over $2500. I think they should be rewarding us if we are long term renters. Four years here and 12 years at our previous place. They kept jacking up the rent while getting tons of section 8's. We pay more rent because we don't want people who care about nothing and let their children run wild and destroy things on the property.

Another problem is people refuse to follow rules of the community like keeping garbage cans inside your garage until trash day. So this place looks like a ghetto, trash cans overflowing and bags sitting on the ground. Stupid people who are so self entitled they think rules don't apply to them.

Actually, the key is to get on the board of the HOA, and be in position to do some of the running.

Sorry to hear that. Same here in Southern California, except much worse prices. Our rent at a 55+ senior community has risen over $300 the past three years. Our rent for a 2 bed, 900 square foot apartment is going up to $2,429 Jan 1st and thats before utilities. Will be about $2,550 total with utilities. Found a 55+ in Vegas for $1,000 a month less and we are outta here. People who complain about high rent in NV really have no idea.

In July (2022) the 1BR/1BA apartment my sister was renting near Nellis & Stewart went from $921/mo to $1151/mo. Then within about a month later it went to $1300+. From $921 to $1300 is an over 40% increase. Greedy b@st@rds.

Why was she going month to month? Have to lock in a lease for a year or so and they can't raise your rent.

No, she was coming off a one-year contract, and that was the price for a new one-year contract.

Why didnt she lock it in at $1,151? Why did she wait a month? Same thing here in California, market values change daily. You need to lock in a new lease immediately if you plan to stay, because prices certainly won't go down.

Because she couldn't afford it. She moved to another apartment complex across town for less than $1,000/mo.
