I generally lurk, but I love this reference.

Sass that, another frood! I'm partial to the Big Z, but only the TV and book version. The movie was worse than Vogon poetry. Mos Def as Ford? Zarquan, please.

We are of one mind in that we need to hold a DDO in the near future.
Thanks, we will have to do it again sometime.

LOL, I enjoyed the movie. However, Zooey Deschanel may have something to do with that.

The only similarities between the TV series, and the movie was the title, the names of the characters, and the robot with the rectangular head in line at the Vogon home world was the original TV Marvin.

Default Replacing Stolen ID?

My friend had his Drivers License and SS card stolen recently and needs to get them replaced. He is unemployed and pretty much homeless. He has no money to speak of.

Here's the problem. To get his DL replaced, he has to have ID. He is originally from NY and to get a copy of his Birth Certificate, he can apply in person, or online with a credit card in his name. Well, he has no credit cards and I can't do it for him because the card has to be in his name. And he is thousands of miles away from NY so applying in person is out of the question. No, you can't do it with a money order through the mail.

And no, he doesn't have a passport either.

So without ID, he can't work. Without money, he can't get an ID. Looks like a perfect catch 22. He can't even file bankruptcy without an ID. Even if he got the money to fly to NY.....he can't get on a plane without ID.

What should he do? Any other options I don't know about?

Sounds like a scam.

I have never lived anywhere without a copy of my birth certificate within reach, nevermind 3000 miles from where I was born. I thinks he's SOL. Maybe he should start hitchin'.

And it's not a catch-22. It's called identity protection. If he could get it that easy...then anyone else could, too.

No, it's not a scam. I was with him when it was stolen.

Default Our poor Las Vegas tourists visiting this week

Try to imagine the tourists who escaped the gloom, in other parts of the country, who by luck, had to pick this week to come to Las Vegas with high expectations of some warmth and sunny skies. Particularly the ones who have never been here and neglected to bring an umbrella.

Weather can make the big difference when you travel and can leave lasting impressions.

I feel sorry for them that return to where they came from, and their friends followed the weather scene here while they were gone, and then they have to face all that ribbing when they get back, inspecting their skin for a little tan.
