I'm glad you had a chance to write Davie and after reading how you feel, this will be the last I have to say on the subject but it makes me sad to see a bright person settle. I was hoping you would be the one to break the cycle of what you saw with your parents. I also have to tell you that you are not alone in your feelings about college. I can't think of a single person who ever stared down another 4-6 years of schooling with enthusiasm or wanted to put their lives on hold for that time. The only difference is the emotional intelligence and the realization that life is not about what happens to us but about the choices we make and in the grand scheme of things, 4 more years is a puney length of time to pay for the chance at a better, easier life for all the years we have remaining.

did you ever think maybe he should give the non-college thing a shot.. hey if nothing pans out in 5 yrs, he can decide to go then... vegas likes young.. eventually he will get hired at a casino, and then he can see how things go from there...
as for his car... he has payments... he has no choice.. he can't sell the car for what he owes.. there is no equity.. so his only choice is to keep making the payments... if he trades it in, he's upside down and they would add the deficiency to the other car.

Hey Davie, I absolutly HATED high school with a passion. But then I had a chance to go to college, and it is NOTHING like high school. I really liked college.
You have a choice to go, the people are all friendly, nobody judges you. It's far removed from high school which is just a bunch of little kids thinking they're all grown up anyway.
Consider going to see a counselor and taking a tour of the campus that might be of interest. You will be amazed how much fun it can be versus the dreaded high school days.

As for Aqua, I would go and see him, but I do not have a way to get there. I am still recovering from my fall on the trail. For some reason, 3 weeks have passed and I am still in pain. Maybe that's why jfk's stupid jokes aren't funny anymore.

Davie,

I am going to say this even know it contrasts with my former posts. If you do not get a degree, you will wind up a loser like me. I am quite content with my own financial situation, but most people and especially you would not be. I will always be working minimum wage jobs for the rest of my life. Regardless, as long as I have my home entertainment center, computer and lots of beer I am content. I have everything I need and want in life. If it were not for my failing health, I would actually be happy. However, most people want a house, wife and children and I could never do that on my income. I personally detested the idea of ever getting married and having kids.

I am sorry to hear that. I remember you posting about it a while back and I thought you had long recovered from it. It might be time to see a doctor. Maybe you broke something (hopefully not).
