Anyone sending any sympathy cards to the construction union workers protesting up in Carson City, to raise taxes, to provide them with some work?

If you're nonunion like myself, seen the value of your house fall 150% from the peak, which has happened with my house, you may just want to send them a different kind of a card with a complimentary one-way air ticket to ????

Let them overbuild some other area of the country, see how they like it!

I have often thought about how new home builders kind of hold a monopoly in a depressed market. They have the ability to undercut existing homes by being able to drop the price and thus making it hard for homeowners to compete with a new house. Especially since I think builders in many ways created the huge surplus.

I of course don't really know much about this...but it irritates me when I see new home builders advertising next to my neighborhood.

We were out today doing pretend house hunting, and new homes, a good size too, were starting in the $110's! Crazy prices. For 2 story 1600+ feet. Too bad we cannot buy right now. We could get a much bigger home for less than we paid for the one we have. According to one of the real estate people from today, she said these are now 1994 prices.

As for the increased taxes, I vote no!

Ahhhhhh! Just kill me!

I say yes for increased taxes if that means they don't cut education.

There's always, always fat to be cut in any budget. I have a background in accounting, turn me loose with the education bureaucracy and I'll find it!

This is one I am going to have to disagree with you on no matter what they cut. Our taxes are already high enough, too much if you ask me.

In our case the fat used to come from the casinos...so maybe you can encourage more gambling while out on your midnight strolls!
