I'm going to Vegas tomorrow to do a little touristing (is that a word? ) and found a company who does Hoover Dam helicopter tours for $59. Has anyone done this before? It sounds so cool!

I've done The Hoover Dam a couple of times...and only from the air when the plane is making its descent into McCarran. IMO, the dam is best visited by foot, to get a true appreciation. If the helicopter is going to land and allow you to do that...that sounds like a great deal.

Last time I was at the dam I saw a Helicopter company right next to the Haicienda Hotel/Casino right next to the Dam. They had rates about the price range you are speaking of but they were closed due to high winds the day we went.
Dam Helicopter they are located in the parking lot of the Hacienda Casino near the top of Hoover Dam. Reasonable priced tours Lake View, Dam View and Black Canyon View. They don’t run if it is windy. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Not sure if prices went up, this was last year. Pretty sure you have to catch it at the Casino rather than in Vegas but if you are driving up there anyway might be an idea.
Did get some 2 for 1 buffet coupons and ate at the Casino up there. Actually got a room for $16 on a comp and the room wasn't half bad, in fact probably better than some Super 8 motel type rooms. We just rested before heading back to Vegas. Full casino though with Craps, Blackjack, Video Poker ect..

Funny you mention that hotel--that's exacty where we stayed and exactly where the helicopter company is I was talking about

We got back last night, and it was such a great trip! We spent Saturday night on the strip, and it was WAY too crazy for us. We did have a nice meal at the Oyster Bar on Miracle Mile and some YUMMY gelato, too. We did the Hoover Dam tour, which was AMAZING. Definitely worth the $30.

My friend was too chicken to go on the helicopter ride, so we didn't end up going. I told her the trip was only about 4 minutes, and that completely turned he off. "4 minutes for $30?! No way!"

I would have gladly paid it.

Years ago I did the helicopter tour, but it was like almost 2 hrs (all in the air, we never landed) was $250 a person.

Most scared I have ever been!
(well, it was pretty scary when I lost my virginity, I was alone in the dark)
