My husband and I are thinking about relocating to the Lexington area. We have two young children. I am a teacher and I have heard of districts offering free/reduced child care to their staff. Does anyone know of any districts that offer free/reduced child care to their staff in the Lexington area? Or even in the state? Thanks
Fayette County (Lexington) schools doesn't offer discounted childcare, but they do have a program where you can get childcare deducted from your paycheck before taxes.
Five bucks an hour is a very good rate for a babysitter. My 19 year old daughter gets $10/hour!!! Especially for two young children like that. I do think someone coming to the house is a great alternative. It just can be tricky to find someone. I did this once when my kids were small and hired the spouse of a Lexington Theological Seminary Student who had a young child of their own. She brought her child with her which is why she was looking for that sort of job. Worked very well. With so many college/universities in our area, hiring a college age person is much easier than in some places.
