I didn't want to hijack the other thread, but I have heard Huntington mentioned a lot here, and I'm interested in hearing about locations west of Huntington that are similar to it.

Thanks.

I'm not sure what similar qualites you are looking for, but you may want to check out Oyster Bay.

Ah, sorry for not elaborating. Huntington seems to be well received due to its downtown area, something that seems more prevalent in Suffolk county. I'm curious what areas are similar further west. The only ones I've seen mentioned (via Google searches) are Great Neck and Rockville Center, both of which are a bit out of my price range, so I"m curious about other places.

Most of the villages that are all or partly in the Town of Oyster Bay do not have a "downtown".

I don't think anything in Nassau approaches the size and scope of what Huntington offers. Which is kind of strange. I don't see Rockville Center as having a "village" or "downtown" feel like Huntington has. Maybe Oyster Bay comes closest.

On the contrary, Roslyn is a village.

LOL.

OF course is does look like Nassau + any semblance of a downtown = $$$

Does Floral Park have a downtown? I've driven down Tulip Ave (I think) and it looked like it may have been at least somewhat decent?

Floral Park is ok. Tulip has a lot of shopping etc. For that matter, so does Covert Avenue (one side is Floral Park and the other side is Stewart Manor) but I don't think either one has that "village feel".

Roslyn was definitely a good call.

If Great Neck and Rockville Centre are too expensive, Roslyn isn't going to work either
