Housing between Flushing and Long Island (Freeport: rental, to move, apts)

I have to go NY for 3 months. I will be spending 6 weeks in Flushing and 6 weeks in Long Island (Helmont, heamstead, Freeport or west bay). I won't know the location in LI for a while but it will be one of the above. I have been trying to find a place in flushing and I checked out a few apts in bayside and forest hills but did not have much luck. What location would be ideal and in the middle for LI and queens? I don't want to have to move twice and I'm not very familiar with ny. Thanks.

Finding a short term rental (three months!) is going to be awfully difficult on Long Island... Not sure if Queens (Flushing is in Queens) is going to be much better.
You might be better off in something like a "Residence Inn"...
