I've never used COD and was wondering, do you give the oil guy a tip? Usually I get a delivery and they leave the bill in my mailbox. But if I use COD I have to see the guy and pay him straight up. Also, do they always "filler up" or can you request a certain amount be filled?
We use COD, I always give a tip. I ask for the amount I need, but the price is better if you buy a larger amount. You should pay the price for the day you receive the delivery.
You will get the price quoted you on the phone when you make your order. You will get a printed receipt from the meter on the truck that is inspected by the Dept of weights and measures. You will get the amount you ask for provided there is room in your tank.A tip is up to you in my opinion.
Do you tip the delivery guy if or when you have a contract?
How much do you tip an oil delivery guy? is it 15% like you give a waiter?
I use to have a 1,500 gallon tank that sometimes cost me up to 3,000-4,500 or more to fill it up. What would be appropriate tip 2, 5 ,10, 50, 100, or 450 ?
I don't understand the concept of tipping an oil delivery guy for doing his job.
I am a COD customer. I call in early in the AM for same day delivery, using a credit card. I've asked for as little as 50 gallons to a fill. Always a much better rate on a fill, but then again I don't like letting the tank get low or getting one big bill for a big fill. I replaced two ancient tanks (550 total) with one 330; it's a bit of a PITA as I can't go the winter without ordering oil, but I did score a lot more free space in the basement which the kids use all the time.
I've noticed the deliverymen have always been very conscientious around my plantings and lights on their way with the hose to the fill. I appreciate that. They are out there in all kinds of weather for my benefit and comfort, I think $5 for a cup of warm coffee or a snack is the least I could do.
they only way I'd tip them is if they gave me more oil than I paid for.
