Suffolk is not a dump, most of it at least isn't. It's just that once you cross the Sagtikos/Sunken Meadow Pkwy then there's really nothing special the island has to offer anymore besides the Hamptons and maybe a few other tourist traps.
I'm in Nassau county and would never consider a move past 110. Hubby (and myself in a year) work in the city. A 4 hour a day commute sounds ugly, no thanks!
In my opinion, you live in the sticks/ boonies or whatever you like to call it. You made that choice to live there, so who cares what other people think? Be proud of where you are and stop name calling
Not that I'm complaining. Lemons, lemonade, and all that jazz. Look at it this way: That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and even Long Island, with all of its problems and issues and...characters...still offers electricity, indoor plumbing, heat, and clean water, which is more than many, many people in the world have.
