Just got my LIPA bill for the July and August Period. Supposedly it was a cooler summer and LIPA/PSEG just said something about rates falling a bit.

BUT my bill was around same exact amount as last year when rates were higher and temps higher.

How was your LIPA/PSEG bill compared to last year?

mines fell more than half. I was a tad surprised but not shocked. There was no long term heat wave this summer.

funny, I was looking at my bill about 30 min ago

No way is it more this year with the cool summer. I had a $300 bill one month last summer (CAC use) and this year it never even hit $125 in any month. I'm not kidding. I had the CAC on maybe 3 days all summer. The last 12 months we've only paid $1125, not balanced billing, for a 2700sqft and I'm home everyday too.

I'd tell you what we paid the prior 12 months but the website doesn't show it. If I had to guess, it was maybe $300-400 more.

$600 sounds insane. Something must be amiss. I never had $600 electric bill in all the years as a resident of LI. I have 2500 sq ft with $188 bill last july & august

heat pool? even if its not heated, your pool must chew up tons of power

I also have electric oven, electric dryer, electric washing machine, power to pop on the water heater....I have a combo of CAC and AC in the wall. Unlike most people on LI, I only have one gigantic TV in the house.

We don't even watch tv - everything we like is downloaded and streamed to tablets to watch at our leisure if we even watch anything. But yes we only have the 1 main tv in the living room (wife uses for exercise) and I have one in my office that is on even less. Main entertainment for me is the PC. We could stand to lose FIOS tv & phone.

My brother has a $65 electric bill (1 tv, fridge, and dryer only really) and I thought we were good savers. Then I hear of another relative who leaves lights and tvs on a lot of the time, CAC, and a pool. They are up over $300 every month. Just comes down to what you need and how much you care about it.

$65 sounds bare bones minimum for a house. I know people with 1k plus electric bills in the summer

My bills were a touch cheaper this summer than last. CAC on everyday day except a couple mornings before noon if cool/not humid. $150 was my highest bill for a 2000sqft house.
