I dont have a problem with this. Safety and public health take priority. we are seeing it with the numbers. Numbers are decreasing in NY state thanks to people being unable to gather en masse for public events, and extending the opening times for more businesses means less chance of transmission spread. Its not rocket science.

Yes, the economic pain is terrible- but look at how other countries are actually PAYING their citizens to stay home and paying businesses to stay closed in order to prevent the spread. Other countries are laughing at us and shaking their heads in disgust/amazement at people flouting social distancing rules and going maskless. Our country is in a shambles because the President denies the seriousness of the pandemic and has no interest in helping America overcome this crisis. He doesnt care how many poor Americans are going to die or have to pay the price to keep the illusion of a recovering economy going. There was a way for the federal government to help Americans, and throwing money is insufficient. Expanding testing and having a virus task force that meets more than just 2x a week for starters. Instead of wasting time setting up ridiculous rallies, he should be spending time actually reading his security and science related briefings.

Hate Cuomo all you want, but he has saved lives.

Other countries might be paying people to stay home, but they're not trying to come out with pork barrel bills worth trillions to try and re-engineer their societies during a crisis either.

Cuomo might have saved lives....except of course for that whole nursing home thing. Oops.

Malls are closed indoor spaces and people tend to gather in groups when shopping, when was the last time you saw a teenage girl shopping alone inside Forever21?

Protesters (in NY) were mostly wearing masks and walking outdoors where air is constantly circulating. Also, per studies just released- there were no spikes from protests:

/\ Assuming the screaming throngs of masked and unmasked NY protestors and looters (crowding into stores BTW) were tested as part of the ‘no spike’ determination, I think that is an argument FOR the reopening of malls (w/masked shoppers).

You keep dancing on that premise as though anyone anywhere was going to do something about angry protestors and whether or not they wore masks. It is such a ridiculous notion. No one signed off on that nor had a plan. National Guard and smoke bombs didn't work, neither did asking nicely. That goes for the nitwit white schmucks in Tulsa and the morons on Merrick Rd.

None of which has anything to do with the discussion about phase 3 and 4.

Read my lips: LIABILITY. Protestors don't care, malls most certainly do. 1st person to get COVID while trying on those new Nike's is guaranteed to sue long and hard. That times a few dozen million. Should be quite the spectacle. Rushing back has serious consequences. I don't expect the LICD forum to think that deeply, though, just gimme a mani pedi and don't tread on my lawn.

Cuomo hopes to raise a generation of kids who have never left their houses, never interacted with peers, never played a sport....what could go wrong? This guy is responsible for all those nursing home deaths but the sheep of ny will go along with this for "safety".

And for those who say leave if you don't like it? Would you say the say to the anarchists in the streets...no. because progressives only limit speech that doesn't agree with them. Cuomo is a criminal but since he's a Democrat no one is allowed to mention his ridiculous decisions.

So I can sue my employer who opened up following the guidelines if I would get Covid? That’s beyond dumb.

How can anyone prove they got Covid at a mall and sue? With that notion everyone and anyone could sue if they got it.

Yes there are already a bunch of big wrongful death suits going, including one against walmart.

All it takes is a class action suit. There will be plenty. Just like after 9/11. Ambulance chasers abound. It could be customers, could be staff. You don't want to be a commercial enterprise playing footloose with people's health, and it's best to assume most people are too stupid to act intelligently on their own behalf, until it's time to call Shmacoby and Shmyers.
