Not that it ever goes away (since they operate from early March to late January) but the full onslaught of never ending leafblowing is in full effect and worse than ever.

ALL HUNTINGTON RESIDENTS BE ADVISED:

After the new laws passed in March GAS leafblowing is only allowed by commercial landscapers:

8-6PM Mon-Fri
9-5PM Saturday
NO SUNDAYS!

A gas-powered leaf blower device shall only be operated for two (2) hours of use per property on weekdays, one (1) hour of use per property on Saturdays. These TIME restrictions shall not apply to spring clean-ups (March 15th through April 30th each calendar year) or fall clean-ups (November 1st through December 20th each calendar year).

at NO TIME are commercial landscapers to operate gas leafblowers on residential properties ON SUNDAYS OR HOLIDAYS.

If you allow your landscaper to operate on Sunday, after your neighbors listen to this racket all week long, shame on you, and if anyone reports it you and your scraper are liable for any fines and violations.

How many acres do people have that they even need to blow for an hour? What the christmas? My lower powered sweeper blower on my 100x60 - I'm done in 15 mins max, if that. I see my neighbors landscapers going for ridiculous amounts of time each time. Are they trying to justify their pay or something?

The commercial equipment that landscapers use must comply with your town's maximum noise ordinance (usually around 60 db measured at said property's curb line. There are almost never any exceptions for landscapers. Download a decibel meter on your smart phone & start complaining!

Just curious, how is it being enforced since it has been through a mowing season.?

My crazy old guy who would backpack leafblow every single day moved but the new guy does it often too. So stupid. Blows whole lawn off into woods across the street. Faster, quieter, less fumes, and better for the lawn to just mulch it in with your mower. Literally blowing the lawn, over time, blows away all the nutrients and broken down organic material that is great for the lawn. I have greenest lawn on street, but people are clueless.

I need to move to where I have 2 acres. Suburban quality of life really sucks.

Its more the fact that most areas are heavily treed. I'm on 110x100, I have 7 larger trees 50+ ft. All my neighbors have the same, most more. Most areas are 1+ acre and very wooded. Guy across the street has 1/2 acre he filed up 21 bags of leaves and still has crap on his lawn. Take a drive down old country past the new shoprite stay on OCR you will see all the leaves. 1 acre is 7 of your properties, imagine that when half of it is large trees.

I'm on 3/4 acre, have probably 40 trees, and live across from woods. I use...0 bags. Maybe 3 or 4 times throughout the season I just mulch them into the grass with the mower. Not a lot of work and it's good horticultural practice.

Wow you can only use a gas blower if youre a commercial landscaper? Thats rough but there are plenty of battery powered options these days. I use a gas blower but I wouldn't mind the town of Islip enacting something like this. The guy in the house diagonal to me uses his gas blower about twice a week for at least an hour on his small 1/4 acre property. I use mine 15 min at most. The guy is out there blowing every little piece of debris like his yard is going to be on a magazine cover or something.

Am I reading correctly that a resident is not allowed to use a gas powered leaf blower? Your police must have a lot of time on their hands to be making calls for these violations.
