I do get a lot of food to go but have not dined in any so far. Hubby said this covid thing has put a damper on dining out for him and it's not because he fears getting covid.
We really enjoy it and the staff and owners are happy to see customers.

If he’s not afraid of getting covid, what is the reason? I personally love going out to dinner, especially now. It’s never busy, there’s no wait. The only negative thing is like Applebees cant do the half price apps after 10 anymore lol bc restaurants have to close @ 10

I'd say the opposite. It was depressing, cold, weird and the owner (friend) flat out told me at this point, he'd rather do take out/delivery only because it's safer and easier and he's not making any liquor money now anyway. He makes more on designer cocktails to go. We just upped our takeout to 3 days per week.

Interesting, here most of the owners and managers we talk to say that take out is a money loser, not a lot but a little on each order. The places we go are the opposite of cold and weird, and the staff even has a little more time to interact with the customers. The reason we go out isn’t just to have someone else cook for us but the atmosphere and staff. For the most part everything is currently normal with the exception of the mask and fewer people being out.

I feel this way also. You can actually sit & not feel like you’re being rushed out

Def not normal here and def not warm. The money loss is in not serving liquor, where the margins are. Food has slim margins. The Lakehouse was cold and depressing, the food so so and still $$$$. Refuge more casual but also awkward and too crowded. Wife just tried to get the group together again and they all said "nah, we'll try again in the spring." People much more interested in vaccines here than dining out. Sad, but true.

That’s too bad. It really seems to be two worlds these days.

The mask wearing before you have to be seated. So basically he works from home doesn't go anywhere except to his mom's or my mom's. He would rather stay home then have to wear a mask out somewhere.
I told him it's no big deal but I've lost that battle. He feels it's ridiculous that you need to wear a mask when you enter a restaurant but it's ok to take it off once you are seated and eating. I agree.

What is so complicated? When you are walking past the tables and are breathing on others, mask. At your table where hopefully you are six feet from the next person, your germs fall on your own plate, thus no mask needed. 1+1=2
