Congratulations because clearly based upon the OP you must be in the minority. I grew up in a home of roughly 50/50 Italian and Irish. I can tell you what we called each other when I grew up that would never make it today.
First it was Uncle Bens, then Land O Lakes, then Aunt Jemima, and then the Cleveland Indians. ( I know that NYS did not do this just making a point) WTF! BTW could not open the link.
Don't forget St. Joh's "Redmen." They were the first to cave back in 1994. I was on the soccer team a couples of years prior. Awful name change to "Red storm."
The very idea of spending money to create and then address problems is a distinct hallmark of modern big government.
At the risk of giving the dingbat initiative/virtue signaling more attention than it deserves, Amityville has pointed out that its nickname, warriors, is not connected to Native Americans.
Of course, common sense has long left the reservation in the context of this particular hare-brained Albany notion.

The US is going down the tubes, for MANY reasons, yet the "do-gooders" are focused on nonsensical things like historical names. It appears that REAL issues are too difficult for them to address, so they'll go after something that isn't as difficult to "solve"....

(and I couldn't get the link to open, either)
These are faux do-goodness who only want to divide. Of course a few virtue-signalers will hop aboard.
I apologize to the bunny people who are doubtlessly offended by my use of the word ‘hop’.

I graduated from a college that was the Indians and we caved before that. 1988 to be exact.
I don’t get warriors. Change the mascot and nothing is wrong with that name.
And let’s face they were all warned years ago and as one AD said “we started changing stuff years ago”.

Agree 1000% and unless I am mistaken Atlanta still has the Braves and it is still ok because calling someone a Brave is a word that depicts honor. How about the tomahawk chop that many teams still use? Time to stop being so caught up in PC'ness. We have bigger problems than worrying about the names. Talk about racing the level of anger in the country.
