I clicked on it and the story above it says that the student lied about the rape and all men were cleared of the charges.

There is a lot of information missing (did the "victim" go to the hospital?) and it seems fishy to me.

What kind of filthy **** would do something like that then try to blame the men for her guilty feelings afterward. Reminds me of the Duke incident.

Default a life ruined/Stalin

Still a sad situation for all involved. Who sends their daughter to college so she could be violated/passed around by four strangers in a broom closet? Going forward her reputation and conscious is going to be massively compromised post-incident. She was better off staying home under the protections of her family than being exposed to defiling at college.

What is up with naming your kid Stalin? He better not go to Brighton Beach where people know what that disgusting name means. Stalin is one of the most disgusting names in human history. The ignorance of the American public allows him to sport that name with impunity. The family really should have cracked a book before they picked up that name.

20 Million died at Stalin's hands in holocausts, famines and purges. 100,000 Russian Orthodox clergy (Priest,Monks,Nuns) were shot execution style in the head on Stalin's order and upwards of 4 million were exterminated by Stalin's purges of dissenters. Socialist mismanagement of farming led to massive famines that wiped out millions more under Stalin's policy. The name "Stalin" should invoke no less rebuke than Hitler.

Default Wrong, very wrong.

This is just an irresponsible statement, pure and simple.

My first thought after hearing that the alleged victim recanted was that this will only further deepen the issues surrounding sexual assault victims coming forward. And your statement only serves to prove that point.

I actually agree with this statement...there really is no other way of putting it. Allegations such as these are too often baseless, and seem to stem from irresponsible women who change their minds after a regretful encounter.

Again, how can anyone make a statement like this without providing something to back it up?

Think about what a woman has to go through in order to claim rape. The physical exam, admission to those closest to them that they had a sexual encounter, being asked to recall the details several times and for several audiences.

Why would women "often" subject themselves to this?

Are there cases where rape was claimed to cover up the fact that a consensual encounter occurred? Probably. But I think the number of unreported incidents are much, much higher because women think that people such as you and Foreverdrunk will turn it around and accuse them of having done something wrong instead.

Forgive me for being steadfast in my position , but I was raised by a man who taught me at the age of fourteen that "no" always means "no" and it never means "maybe", "try again" or "yes".

If this turns out to be true and she made it all up I would be suing everyone, if I was labeled a rapist. These kids had their images pasted on the news, newspaper & internet as rapists. Maybe we need to go back to innocent until proven guiltytheory instead of guilty until proven innocent, eh?

Yep, not fair for the kids, their names will be tied to news stories of an accused rape for a long time with the internet the way it is. I'd be suing her, her family, the school, and the police department, although honestly all of the blame should be on her for lying, but I can't imagine what this must have been like for them.
