I think a lot of it is jealousy for the most part. For example, don't tell me they wouldn't want to live in L.A if they could have a mansion for example or a Penthouse apartment..obviously not too many living in L.A or CA like that but any of them would leave their little towns for the chance. Maybe not all of them but probably 95% or more.

It's a Jesus thing: You're either with us, or you're in league with Satan. Like all those people in L.A.

I use to get jealous when I lived back east under 2 feet of snow and then watch the evening news and they would show people riding their bikes along the beaches of southern California or sitting at an outdoor cafe with their sunglasses on. Lol!!!

Its all jealousy. LA gets 325 days of sunshine a year, and is the cultural capital of the United States. That's why they all flock here.

Nobody in their right mind would call Waikiki, Times Square, or Fisherman's Wharf tourist ghettos. They are touristy for sure but definitely not ghettos. I have been to all 3 several times.

It's a figure of speech - sort of like a "food desert". They aren't literal ghettos or even literally run-down.

Hollywood on the other hand, is a literal tourist ghetto (Well at least it used to be).

^^^This!!! That's what surprised me about this city. I was expecting way more craziness. People generally just chill and do them.

And that's mainly how it was growing up there for me. L.A. people were basically easy. Some adjoining police agencies seemed intent to discourage minorities out of the sterile communities. But metro L.A. is a lot more easier going than nationally portrayed. The majority of the negative talk is usually from outsiders or those who moved to L.A. thinking the whole city was a fantasy mix of Hollywood Blvd. and Disneyland. Not. Its home and quiet neighborhoods to thousands of very proud people who love their Superstar city.

It's overplayed. I miss the snow. And driving to the mountains don't count.

And I know it sucks with snow half the year.

But it's just a personal thing. See my friends with snow, and I hated it while there but I miss it. Looking back, it just made you appreciate the warmer weather more.

Here you can't leave your beer out to chill, or have that actual christmas feel.

Don't mind me BTW, I'm just having a nostalgia trip and sort of torn between 2 areas that I love.

Four years from now, when you're living in NYC or Chicago, you won't have one good thing to say about Los Angeles. Guaranteed.

That's okay though. You should be where you're happiest. But spare us this "torn" BS. Anyone who misses weather like what the East is enduring right now when they've had a week of 75 degree temps has no love for L.A.
