I've had better pizza in LA than in Chicago, but I am not impressed with Chicago-style pizza. That said, there is Hollywood Pies if they want that deep dish.

I'm a big fan of Neapolitan pizza, so my favorite places in LA are Mother Dough (Los Feliz) and Settebello (Pasadena).

I don't like Chicago pizza either but the people from there will defend it 'til the death, even if it tastes bad.

In the north-ish SFV I'd go for Nikki's (Balboa and Victory) or Humble Pie (Tampa and Saticoy). Neither of these places serves deep dish.

You are better off telling someone from Chicago to send the pizza frozen via mail

That's what I was thinking! ha ha!

Anyway, Hubby and I loved the Chicago Pizza when we visited that wonderful city! Lou Malnati's and Pizzeria Due, both AMAZING, and we haven't found anything yet that satisfies here in the south land.

However, one of our favorite Pizza in the LA area is Little Toni's in North Hollywood. Not Chicago style, but very very tasty! Mmmm... suddenly getting hungry!

I am asking because her friend is planning to take her to a pizza parlor.

I am a big pizza enthusiast and if I were visiting Chicago I would ask my host to take me to a highly-rated pizza parlor!

Well yea if you eat little cesars in Chicago it will not be as good as gourmet pizza in LA.

You are aware that there are like 3 different types of Chicago style pizza, right?

I am not a fan of Chicago at all, but pizza is something they excel at.

unfortunately, mother dough closed down earlier this month. the stated reason for the closing was due to the owners feeling burned out by the daily grind of the restaurant business:
