“Mayors from California's largest cities are asking state lawmakers to provide $1.5 billion to help address what they say is a growing homeless crisis.

The mayors on Wednesday backed legislation that would require the cities to provide matching funds. That would create a $3 billion pot of money for housing, temporary shelters, supportive services and outreach.”

Another $17 million that could actually house people ... hmm. All these angry protests: “I'm not giving up any more of my hard earned tax dollars to house these leeches!” ... uh, yes you are gonna. Until you house them.

A group of Los Angeles lawmakers pledged Wednesday to avoid not-in-my-backyard battles over where destitute residents should be housed, promising to back a minimum number of new supportive housing units for homeless people in the districts they represent.

The City Council resolution would not be binding, but lawmakers stressed that they were making a public commitment — and throwing down the gauntlet for others on the council to do the same.

Except often, the homeless people do not want to live in those places. Has anyone asked them?

Yes. Surveys and research show that only about 10% of homeless would stay on the streets voluntarily if they had any non-threatening option. They don't need much. Just a room with a locking door will do and they'd be quite pleased to come in off the sidewalks.

Yeah exactly. We already have social workers going around to these homeless encampments offering them shelter and they refuse .

If the Bible is to be believed (I am an atheist, but this country claims to be "God fearing"), then this country
has hopped into bed with Satan.

All of this talk about putting homeless in concentration camps, all of the greed, money above men, corruption in the agencies that are supposed to "help" the homeless, and all of the self-entitled snowflakes (yes, I'm using that word) who think they can screw over people and take the most desirable land because they feel like they are somehow entitled to it because they have a whole bunch of shekels in their bank account just proves my point.

Even the non-religious would call all of this evil.

If there is a God, I hope he punishes all of the wicked people I see posting to this board and also those who are screwing over their fellow citizens left and right.

Whatever bad thing happens to you, whether it is God, Karma, people getting fed up and hunting for your hide, whatever, you had it coming. Hope you suffer bad.

True. I'd never lay a hand on anyone in real life unless I was defending myself from harm. Way too much to lose to some broke ambulance chaser.
