Maybe more genuine means less pretentious, less snobbish, and more friendly.

I would think many people live in Alaska simply because they like the environment and weather; outdoorsman, nature lovers, etc. And there are nuts and weirdos everywhere; at least in a sparsely populated state like Alaska people are spread out.

And in Alaska being less "pretentious" and "snobbish" comes at the cost of more bigotry and less education. A black man moving to Alaska most certainly wouldn't find the people to be more friendly and less snobbish.

Have you ever been to Alaska? I have....many times in fact. Love it. I've even seen black people up there. In fact, there seems to be a greater mix of everyone, overall. That's not a bad thing in my mind.
