Oh my. Where to begin. Growing up in Newport Beach my neighbors, whom I actually knew, were John Wayne, Jane Wyman (next door neighbor), Edgar Bergen, James Arness, David Rose and Andy Devine. Roy Rogers and Dale Evans and their children summered on our island so I got to know them as well.

Since then I've met Polly Bergen and Candice Bergen, Nancy Culp (liked her a lot), Louis Nye (didn't like him), Dick Clark (he looked his age), Dennis Weaver (really nice), and Arnold Schwarzenneger (worked for him). There were probably others but those are the ones who come to mind.

Oh, yeah. How could I forget, Ronald Reagan. As a young Army Captain I provided him with military security and honors and was his military escort for an event. He was a real people person.

If you consider them celebrities, which I don't, I've met and worked with every Governor and just about every member of the Legislature during the past 18 years while I was a legislative analyst for the state.

While waiting for my car at the valet in front of the Roxy after seeing The Sundays, I saw Ron Jeremy waiting for his car. He was with a couple of women and a couple of guys in their 70's(?).

Many moons ago I lived in Brentwood. Saw many on a daily basis, mostly just going to work, but you would see some shopping here and there.
I was just a kid then, Loved it,

I see celebs quite often and mainly its because of the places I visit/shop near my home:

Calabasas Commons
Starbucks (Calabasas, Woodland Hills, Studio City, Sherman Oaks)
Farmers Markets (Calabasas, Studio City)
Shops along Ventura Blvd (from Studio City to Woodland Hills)

Default In everyday life?

You don't just see these people walking around. They try to avoid the crowds as much as possible so as not to get mobbed. I agree that in Malibu, where I saw Sylvester Stallone, you might see some of those folks, but if you move to say Glendale, Encino, Burbank, you know, where us "normal" people live, you can go a lifetime without seeing anyone, "Famous."
It's not like on TV where there is a star in every corner. Oh BTW, downtown Hollywood is really dirty. It's not where you'll find Kate Hudson just hanging out.
West Hollywood, Malibu, Rodeo Dr maybe.

On my earlier post I said you don't see celebs just walking around in most of LA, which is true. But this person wrote this about Goldie Hawn.
Sometimes you catch someone in a bad mood, or in a hurry, and just like anyone else, they may not be real cool when you meet them. I drive a 'Honeywagon" for the studios. It's a dressing room truck for the celebs to retire to in between takes, so I work somewhat closely with them, but try to stay out of the way at the same time.
Goldie, and Kurt Russell were extremely cool people. Kurt Russell played haci sack with us, and got into using our water balloon launcher with us. He hit Goldie Hawns make up trailer just as she was coming out, and drenched her. Both people were really cool. I always heard Stallone could be a jerk too, but I met him at Trancus Market in Malibu. I waited till he was done eating his lunch, than walked up to him and told him that I appreciated his work, and wished him well. He was also very cool.
It depends how you treat them. They don't want you to shout thier name, scream, and run up to them like a nut. It bring too much attention, and like any other human, they get very uncomfortable.
Kurt Russell, Goldie Hawn, John Ritter, Jim Belushi, Andy Griffith, Tom Cruse, John Travolta, William H Macy, Adam Sandler, Robin Williams, George Clooney.....all really cool people who took time to sign autographs and take as many pics as you could stand, adn most of the above will even sign if you get a little too excited.
I met a couple real jerks, (Cameron Diaz), but by and large, most of these folks are real cool, if you jus show some common respect, and don't embarrass them.
