Hi,
There's a small possibility I could be taking a job at Robins AFB. I've been in the area before so I'm slightly familiar and no, I'm not a Californian but I do live in the northwest. I've lived in Mississippi, Tennessee and South Carolina, so I'm familiar with the things that are part and parcel of the area... bugs, humidity, snakes, the occasional large reptile. Vitals: Four kids in school, grade seven and below. Wife works at home.

Since I didn't really venture away from Macon much the last time I was out there, which has been about ten years ago, I don't know anything about the areas closer to Warner Robins. If I accept the offer, I'd want something close to work, within 5-10 miles. I've noticed the schools are pretty good in the Kathleen/Bonaire areas, and the housing is reasonable... at least to someone coming from a pricey housing market. We may rent something at first so we have time to scope things out a little better.

Is there anything else to know about these areas? Is there anywhere else I should be looking that's more desirable? How about Knight Homes? Do they have a decent reputation? Any info appreciated!

I'd also like to get some info on some of the builders in the area, if any of them have better reputations than others, or if there are any that are completely red-flag, do not buy one of their houses.

With the way you've described your situation, I think you'll love it. If there were a textbook example of "Suburbia, USA" then that area would be perfect example.
