Hey, I'm taking a special lady out for dinner tonight and I was wondering if anyone had one good restaurant recommendations. Somewhere romantic and with good food. About $20 per meal is my upper limit, but it doesn't have to be that expensive. Anyone have any ideas?

Any particular kind of food?

Best seafood that I know of in Augusta is at the Red Barn on Route 201, about a mile north of Route 3. But it is more of a drive-in, take-out place, and not at all what I'd call 'romantic'. Longhorn steakhouse is good if she likes steak. I go to Augusta quite frequently, but usually end up either at KFC or the Great Wall Chinese buffet, so I can't really speak for many of the restaurants.

If you're willing to travel about 20 minutes north, there is Ming Lee just off of Main Street in Waterville; not far from the Interstate. By far one of the best Chinese restaurants I've ever eaten at. Waterville also has Cancun, located on Silver Street, which has great Mexican food (and cheap).

Wish I knew more, but I tend to go to Bangor if I want to eat out anywhere. I'm more into foreign foods (Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Mexican, Thai) when I go out to eat, and Bangor seems to have a better selection.

The Senator on western avenue in augusta is one of the best restaurants in the area

99 restaurant isnt bad either ...over on civic center drive- similar to longhorns

olive garden isnt bad,,,,up near walmart- Apple-bee's on western ave in front of shaws

Lisa's over on bangor street (use to be MIKE'S restaurant, for 30 years) is good too

there's a place called Roosters near the civic center, use to be the ground round, they have good food and spirits

Where did you end up for your romantic dinner? I would have suggested the Senator. I have found Augusta lacking in great places to dine.
