NWS is still predicting nothing for MDI in that storm. Other agencies are predicting 2-6 inches. My new bathroom shower won’t get started if that happens.

What a week! Should be interesting more interesting after tomorrow. Lets see if some Northeast sites can get on the list aside from Caribou.

  • Caribou with 7.9" this past week goes from 13th place....and stays at 13th place. Now 23" of snow for the season which is 10.8" above normal.
  • Great Falls with 17" of snow this past week pulls ahead even further. Now with 5 feet of snow on the season, almost 4 feet above normal!
  • Fairbanks got kicked down from 3rd place to 9th.
  • Rapid City with 18.7" this past week jumped from 14th place to 3rd! Wow! 33.8" for the season, over 2 feet above normal.
  • Flagstaff wasn't even on the list last week with 6.6" (52nd place) and now they are in the Top 12 with 24.2"
  • Minneapolis, Green Bay, & Fargo make the list for 1st time
Detroit, Flint, & Fargo get kicked off

Rochester is also representing the Northeast.
Why does Grand Forks say NWS?
Great Falls is headed for a winter like Erie got a couple years ago (and Caribou got 11 years ago).
Pretty funny that Arizona has more snow than Maine!

Thanks for the questions..and stat! I'm surprised Erie isn't up there yet. Not much Lake Effect happening but they have less than 13.7" to not be on the list

Grand Forks has 2 sites one called Grand Forks, one Grand Forks NWS. I think 1 is the airport and one is the NWS office.
Oh yeah, Rochester.
Flagstaff is at 7000' but always interesting to see southern latitudes have more snow even at that elevation.

Current Temps and Radar. Snow is approaching.

Here's what it looks like here. That's my snow board there. (0.7" Sleet/Snow Total so far) and that's my rain gauge. The sleet/snow melted to 0.15" liquid. 5:1 ratios

1-5pm Loop Dec 1, 2019.

Thunderstorm warning over Pittsburgh area.

The "big Circle"....Upper Low, is centered over Fort Wayne, IN right now. Was over Nebraska 36hrs ago.. That's our 2nd snow event as the cold pool of air moves east. Lots of instability under that vortex

Raining NYC Long Island and MA Capes.

Heavy snow in Albany where 2-3" is on the ground in area.

Snow is approaching NH/ME now

I put some tarps on some equipment at sunset. I looked up at the scattered clouds and the clouds were not moving at 12 to 15,000 feet. That's a rare thing, to have "calm winds aloft" which is a term used in aviation weather reporting.

I was a naval aviator. I carrier qualified on the old USS Antietam in the last class to carrier qualify on a carrier with a wooden deck. I'm so old - I forget

Radar loop 4-8pm. Can you see the large Rotation? Bands coming from the Ocean hitting ME/NH/MA now while snow is moving south over NY where they got 10-20".

Bangor reporting light snow. Just started in Bar Harbor.
