Nice stats. Thanks! You can use this site to see what the High temps were for the Climo sites but you'll have to check the records individually as NWS doesn't list the Record Low Max temps (Or record High Min) easily.

IEM :: Map of Daily NWS CLImage reports

I made this but rushed and didn't include Maine. Sorry!

I circled all the record low max temps yesterday. Got Portland in there.

Record or not, it was painful taking the dog out at 5:30 AM today. A little brisk yesterday as well, with the North wind.

We may actually get a November thaw. It's supposed to get up to 41 today. I have one last field to bush hog. There is only 2 or 3 inches of snow. It's easier to see rocks and stumps.

In 1958 during deer season, it was 22 below on a Saturday morning. I hunted all day. I had to bulid three warming fires to keep from freezing my hands and feet.We have the same situation now. England has the coldest year since the 1600s. We have had over 200 days with nearly no sun spots. That's why it is so cold.

Global warming and global cooling are caused by the sun. With the exception of the occasional meteor strike like the one that wiped out the dinosaurs and another one that caused the last ice age which ended around 12,000 years ago. Our weather is controlled by the sun. It isn't tire pressure, hair spray or coal.

About eight years ago, we had what the old timers call an "open winter". It was cold, but we had very little snow. We could drive anywhere with a pickup on unplowed roads. Last winter two of us from church went in to a camp to deliver medicine and food to an elderly couple wh had not seen a human face for six weeks. We had 40 inches of powder snow with bo base to it. I brought in fresh oranges from Florida. On a clear day, they can get one bar on their cel phone and send text messages.

Climate is what we expect. Weather is what we get.

What kind of November are we having so far?

Only 1976 & 1939 was colder for Bangor area.
Only 1976 & 1904 was colder for Portland area.

Aside from Boston & NYC, it's a Top 10 coldest 1st half of November for many of us in the Northeast.

Coldest since 1970s/80s.

Only 1 year was colder for Pittsburgh, Islip, & Bridgeport.

Looks like it's one of the coldest 1st halfs of November for more than just the Northeast

It is kind of strange that Boston and New York are nowhere near their coldest.....is that a "heat island" effect (having more pavement today than 40-80 years ago??)

Currently, here in Aurora, Maine...15F Degrees, Dewpoint 10F Degrees (Realfeel, 5F Degrees). Winds 9mph WNW. Gusts 10mph...Predicted Low 9F Degrees by tomorrow morning.
A Robin's-Egg-Blue sky, greeted us this morning as we donned our fleece bathrobes and slippers and drew-back the insulated drapes for a view!
Cups of hot steaming coffee (clasped for warmth), awakened us to this mid-November day. Plastic applied to the inner windows of, This Old House (at least 1860), reduced the draft, while the oil furnace kicked-in to bring us to a liveable 60F Degree temperature (after awaking from a 48F Degree temperature). Breakfast of fried onions, bacon, and eggs wafted throughout the house and tempted our appetites. The day was spent in awareness of the cold..
The Blue Jays returned to the feeders (and so did a mental-reminder to hang the suet), calling to family members! Gobbling as much as they could, before disappearing into the distant forest..
and escaping it's touch. The sun set in pastel colors (mostly lavender), as the shadows drew longer and deeper into an inky farewell....
So, we bid you a goodnight (one in which your longings are fulfilled)...and daybreak greets you with a loving embrace in light!
