I do not recall seeing your legs either.

Post photos soon!

LOL, my wife is 5' 0", her inseam is 26" (yes, I measured it a few years ago when I was buying her a new motorcyle for her birthday and needed to know so I could find one that wasn't too tall for her.)

And since since I have a 36" inseam and it's 22" to my knee, you would have to be impressively tall to go 25" to the knee.

So, I have to ask, what bike did you get for your wife? I am 5' tall with a 30" inseam and my "starter bike" was an old Honda Silverwing, that I could only "tippy-toe" and that only when wearing Doc Martins with 1" soles. I started riding when I was 50, but gave up the bike some time back when it started having problems I couldn't fix and have not found anything that I consider "short enough" and not too darn wide that it takes up all of what the short saddle height gives me, and light enough I stand a chance of being able to right it if I should go over.

I bought her a Yamaha Virago. It was a '94 535 with less than 5,000 miles on it. It had been sitting in someone's garage for years and I paid a low price for what was, esentially, a bike that had been barely broken in. It had only one problem- it had been sitting for so long that condensation inside the fuel tank had caused it to rust badly...and it sprang a huge leak when we hit a hard bump on the highway.

I didn't realize it was leaking until I hit the reserve and pulled off the highway to get gas...and then noticed that the gas was pouring out almost as fast as I was pumping it in. We were nearly at our destination so I only had to push it for less than two miles (the leak was coming out right over the hot pipes and I figured I had used up my luck for the day in not burning up on the highway). I borrowed a car and we went and got my truck to haul it home.

I have a '96 Virago 1100 Special, which sits a little taller and weighs a bit more (and also does 0-90 in about 4 seconds). You could probably sit it OK, but it needs significantly more upper body strength to handle than the 535, the motor is twice as big, the frame is bigger and heavier and the fuel tank is on top instead of being under the seat. (The upper "fuel tank" on the 535 is sort of a disguise.)

It's quite a bit harder to "throw around" than the 535, but the biggest problem is that it's really a bear if you get over-balanced at low speed, or when stopped, turning or backing it up. I've dropped it two or three times, once very embarrassingly, with an audience, while backing out of a parking space at a rest area on I-84 in NY...of course, I blame that on the fact that I was loaded to the gills with gear and food because I was on an extended road trip.

She's talking about something with a bigger motor now. Some of the Harleys might work, and there are "lowering kits" that you can buy and drop the height 2-4 inches.

Does it have to do with a shovel, a drive/walk way, snow, and a sore back? Just a BEWAG here.
No, no, my friend.

The shovel is the last resort of a tractor driver who is dumb enough to get stuck.

Even with a 7 foot blower on an 80 hp tractor, constantly doing 3 & 4 foot drifts gets a little old.

Zymer,

I had to laugh at your post regarding dropping your bike once or twice. I got my first bike at the tender age of 14. Small Honda 250 at the time, back in the early 70's. Later on I went on to have a couple bigger bikes with the last one being a nice shiney new black 700 Shadow back in the early 90's. It too was just a tad too tall for me. Man, if I stopped a little too quickly at a stop sign and lost that point of balance, down it went and I could not for the life of me pick that bad boy up! I can't tell you, 1) how embarrasing that is. 2) how many men behind me had to either get out of their trucks and pick it up for me. Their only other choice would have been to back up and go around me. Most men would not do that except the occassional little 90 yr old gentleman that knew he wouldn't be able to pick it up either. So humiliating for me the couple times it happened. My DH also had the 1100 Virago special, that was a real treat to ride. I loved that bike. Funny how little women prefer big bikes and big horses too! When ever I used to go horseback riding, I always wanted the biggest horse in the stable! No wonder you guys think we're crazy!

Thinking of appropriate response... thinking of appropriate response....

Well, that's enough thinking for one day.
