But what I do know is that for everything the citizen gives up, the compromise, the anti gun crowd comes back and wants more........well, we are done with that!

We don't trust them anymore. We are done giving up things.
Regarding guns, what have the people given up ?

Everyone is armed. So it couldn't be losing our 2A rights.

Fully automatic. They closed the registry so those that are out there are almost 40 years old and are out of sight expensive. Short barrel rifles. Magazine limits.

Look at what you can be taken to jail for by the ATF.....and look at the individual weapons that the government, armed forces and police, can have.

BUT if you want to say, "As long as you can have a single shot .22 pistol, the 2A rights are there," FINE, enjoy your koolaid.

I normally would favor gun control. But the problem is, only law-abiding people would be affected.

NRA shrills always say this, but how so? If a gun owner is truly properly trained, mentally competent (as certified periodically), and practices safe storage of their weapons...what do they have to fear?

Because we don't trust the government. The closing of the automatic registry is proof of that. Sure, we can have a machine gun, it is legal, they are out there........but they changed the rules so very few people can play.

Trusting the government can lead to one's rights still being on paper but with so many hoops to jump through that it is no longer possible to use them......if they don't ban them outright.

We watched it all in Vietnam, those of us that are old enough to remember that nightmare. The so-called Domino Theory was based on the fact that Southeast Asians all look alike therefore they all think alike.

I wonder why the restrictions worked so dramatically well in Australia, then? They are a 1st world country with a culture like ours....

That's why it's hopeless in the U.S. We used to say that if the Congress-critters kids got shot up, things would change.

I no longer believe even that would do it. People are A-OK with children being shot up. They love their guns more.
