If meat-eating offends you, please do not read! Vegans, please forgive my carnivorus post. Every time I go to New Zealand to visit my in-laws, my Father-in-law tells me to eat a couple of sheep whilst I am there as they have more sheep than people in New Zealand. I was reluctant at first, as childhood memories I had of a dish my Grandma prepared were not at all plesant. I have to admit my Mother-in law does a good leg of lamb, as opposed to my dear sainted Grandma from the "Old Sod's" mutton! Occasionally my wife makes a "lamb shank-n-spuds" that is to die for.

I never cared much for lamb as my Mum would cook a piece of lamb to death or make a lamb stew (I didn't like). I then had lamb prepared by a Portuguese relative that made me a convert. A young lamb was seasoned and salted, and roasted whole over a pit of coals.

Portuguese can cook! I once was in the town in Portugal that the "Our Lady of Fatima" shrine is located in. Had young suckling pig prepared the same way in a resturant that has been specializing in that particular dish over 500 years!
