Hi All -

My wife is from the Boston area and we are now finally moving back to be closer to her family. No kids yet, but planned and were torn as to where we should move to. From what I've researched Amesbury, Newburyport, (West) Newbury are at the top of the list.

Questions:

1) We're renting initially till we get settled and know more about the area to get a house. Where should we rent?

2) Know any specific places, apartments, condos etc to look at?

3) Anything else I can't think of.

Thanks

I lived in Newbury for 6 years.

Newburyport has the most to offer to a young couple and will also have the greatest number of rental properties, it will also be more expensive than Amesbury.

craigslist, the local paper and a local realtor should be enough sources to find a rental, if you need specific references send me a DM.

Talking Westcoaster

Well, congratulations on moving to a wonderful part of the US. Welcome. If I was you, certainly choose Amesbury, as it offers a lot in the downtown with eateries and a nice New England family feel. Should you feel the need to be closer to the ocean, Newburyport will be your place, although a little more with the tourists, but more shops tec. Its only about 5 miles away. A good idea is to zoom into street view on Google maps to see the downtown streets...least thats what I do.
As far as renting, I would contact realtors, as they sometimes help you find a place to rent. it may be a couple hundred to do so, but is better if you have a little more specific wants.
Again, welcome and enjoy the amazing summers, colorful falls, snowy winters and blossoming springs!
