Hi! My family is relocating in June from Arizona to the South Shore. We have family in Weymouth and Plymouth. We are a large family, with 5 kids ranging in age from 4-18. My MIL lives in Weymouth, but I am not sure that I want to live there. I would love to live in Braintree but I think housing costs are too high. Can you give your opinion on great towns to raise a family. My kids are very involved in youth football, wrestling and baseball. We are looking for a 4 bedroom house $450,000 or under in a friendly, family neighborhood. I have been looking at Plymouth, Pembroke and Marshfield. Plymouth seems to be a great fit-we can get a big house, in our price range and there are a lot of youth sport options. I would appreciate any thoughts!

My husband will be working all along the South Shore. I am also thinking about Abington?

As you've figured out, your budget will limit which towns are affordable. I'm thinking you might like Pembroke.

Here's an earlier thread on the town:

My brother-in-law and his family live in Kingston and they are pretty pleased. They have 3 girls (15, 13, 11) who are all active in town and school sports and music.

Thank you for the Pembroke link. I have been looking a little bit at Kingston but haven't paid it much attention...I will look more.

What's wrong with weymouth? Are the schold bad? Seems like the desirable places in that area are hingham, cohasset and duxbury but they are pricey. Whotman? Quincy? I would think Weymouth would be getting better as pepole get priced out of the surrounding area.

Your quality of life with skyrocket -- Arizona is a pit by comparison to Massachusetts. Sadly, your corresponding cost of living will go through the roof as well.
