Look at all the Boston area neighborhoods! I had no idea Spring Hill was that popular. When I lived in Somerville (granted, that was 15-ish years ago) that was still a really dodgy area.

Oops, 30, not 40.

I don't even know what "neighborhood nine" is in Cambrige. Sigh. I used to be such a city girl.

According to cambridgema.gov Neighborhood Nine has 12,000 residents and is bounded on the East by Mass Ave btwn Porter and Harvard.

Neighborhood Nine is the part of 02138 that is north of Harvard Square, I think. I used to live there, just never knew the definition. City crime maps apportion the city into numbered neighborhoods for statistical purposes.

Never really thought about it, but that area doesn't have a real name. It's nice over there, though.

My first RE purchase was a condo in Cambridge's zone 4, which also doesn't have a name because it's just referred to as "the hood." My next door neighbor's drug dealer used to try to get me to buzz him in when my neighbor didn't answer. And our evening entertainment was watching the police activity in front of our building. And my son's stroller would crunch over the syringes lying on the sidewalks. Mem'ries ....

I saw this list earlier today. I was very impressed to see that 9 of 30 and 4 of the top 10 were in MA. Not surprised to see Washington Square, Brookline on the list. I would love to live there.

I lived in Harvard Square when I first met my wife. She had a condo on Ware St. It was awesome during the summer as we walked everywhere. It wasn't so pleasant on a cold snowy day in the winter.

I always thought Highland Avenue was a pleasant street with interesting architecture even pre-hotness Somerville.

Back in my day the Highland Ave area closer to Porter was nice, but it started to get a little gritty as you got closer to the high school/intersection of Winter Hill. I mean, not awful by any stretch, but certainly not a "hot neighborhood."

Most people call that area Avon Hill.

Not shocked to see Arlington pop up. Every time I'm in town they are knocking down an older home, or adding an addition on an existing home on just about every street I drive down.
