I thought this thread might be a fun way to get some restaurant recommendations

As for me the last one I went to was The Haven in Jamaica Plain. The food was pretty good though a tad expensive. Also, it's a bit loud, but I could see it being fitting if you're in a big group (I was on a date).

The Merchant, no, not for the price

Before that, Row 34, good, and I like seafood, but I don't think it is worth the price

Drink, same, but not really a restaurant

There was a tapas place in Malden I thought was great, Pixtos Tapas Bar or something? That was worth it.

Lone Star Taco Bar as become one of my go to places

Oh, The Merchant was actually on my short list of places I was considering going to on Friday. Sorry to hear the prices are bad.

Instead I'm going to Santouka Hokkaido Ramen in Harvard Square. I've never been there before. Any idea what it's like? Is it the kind of place that takes reservations and what is the wait staff like?

Clintons Bar and Grill in Clinton. I thought the food was good but service needed work. It took close to fifteen minutes after we were seated to be even asked for our drink order. There were other service issues but that one sticks out to me the most. I liked the food enough that I would give it one more shot but wouldn't recommend until I saw if service was just having a bad night.

GiGi's in Maynard. Definitely recommend. While it's not the best Vietnamese food I've ever had, it is more than adequate to fulfill my pho cravings.

Went to Bocado in Wellesley recently. Great food, service was excellent, and I would highly recommend to anyone out in the burbs looking for tapas.

We recently tried The Heritage in Sherborn, formerly the Sherborn Inn. It was pretty good, but too expensive: a Gastropub dinner for two need not cost over $100. But, out that way, it's the only game in town.

A relatively new addition to our rotation is Orinoco in Brookline. Excellent Venezuelan food, and prices aren't bad. Good atmosphere and good drinks. Try the Pernil arepa.

Chili's in Andover lol. I haven't been to a Chili's in years, and then I was reminded that it totally sucks. We stopped in for a quick lunch, I wanted something on the lighter side, and NOT ONE THING on the menu appealed to me. I have decent tastes, and am the least pickiest eater I know, and ended up settling for a bowl of salt that they called chili.

Before that, I tried Basho near Fenway, and the food was excellent. They have various seafood type soups that were neat.

There not "bad", I just don't think they are worth it. I guess I'm a little uptight like that. If I'm paying $25 for an entree, I want to enjoy it 50% more than if I spent $16.50 for an entree, my mind just works like that.
