Do we know to whom they sold the Craftsman brand?

If only people would wake up and realize how much on-line shopping is harming the economy, or be less greedy and pay an extra lousy 10% on that pair of sneakers if that's what it takes to preserve a few local jobs and taxpayers.

The Macy's in the Natick Mall has deteriorated over the years. They have good brands, but the clothes are often in disorganized piles and there are not enough staff members to help. I could live with one problem or the other, but both problems is a pain.

Not all such stores are suffering - the Nordstrom in the Natick Mall is still functioning very well. But, Nordstrom is a more upscale brand.

Many analysts think Sears will run out of cash within the year. It is widely recognized that the CEO, Eddie Lampert, is trying to unwind the brand by selling off its valuable parts like its brands (Craftsman etc.) and its real estate. I would not buy stock in the company - that's for sure.

Price isn't the only reason I shop online.
Macy's, Sears, JCP are really not worth going to anymore. The quality of most items are poor, the stores aren't maintained, and inventories are poorly managed. We used to buy most of our appliances at Sears, but we have noticed that it became more and more difficult over the years. The last appliance we bought there was a fridge. It took awhile for us to find an employee to help us, and the employee didn't really know about the different options. We agreed on a price and they billed us a higher amount. Two hours of haggling later it was fixed. The fridge was great, but in the future, I will go to a non-chain store to buy my appliances.

I don't even go to Target anymore as I find it difficult to get what I need. Target is great when you don't have a list of items that you actually need. Last time I went in with a list, they had 5 of the 12 things I needed, and these were all items that they generally stock.

It is a shame that jobs will be lost, but you have to admit that these companies offer little to their retail employees. Wages are low and training is poor to non-existent. I hope with the economy being fairly strong right now that these employees will be able to quickly find better jobs elsewhere.

Now, I still shop locally and am more than happy to pay a bit more to support local businesses, but I am not going to waste my time supporting stores that don't give a crap about their customers or employees.

A "Flash mob of shoplifters" is when large groups of dozens of shoplifters will enter a Retail store and go on a shoplifting frenzy, knowing the odds 1--3 of the shoplifters in the mob will be caught by store security however, dozens of others will get away with hundreds, thousands of dollar worth of merchandise.

Macy's in Brockton suffered many flash mobs of shoplifters incidents. Jordan Marsh, the predecessor before Macy's at Westgate Mall, also suffered from flash mobs of shoplifters.

Here is an example of flash mob of shoplifters in a Massachusetts store:

I'm not at all surprised by what I see in this picture. It's even worse down here in Florida. The amount of theft is a disgrace. We all end up paying higher prices, because of these trash types. I don't know how they live with themselves.

Agree on both. I often try to find what I want locally before buying online, but I can't get it. Sometimes they say they'll try to special order it for me, but it will take longer and be more expensive than just buying it online... and most of the online retailers I buy from have brick and mortar stores as well.

I'm surprised that Attleboro KMart has been opened all these years. Now I guess all those shoppers, will have to go to Walmart on RT 1 in No Attleboro.
