Didn't one or two districts down there just flip to blue?

The problem there is that we have a Democratic political machine that's entrenched in the state government, Tammany Hall style. People know this and despise our politicians for it, but there's never the strength in any one district to "throw the rascals out". When it comes to a statewide election though, the Democrats who are trying to climb out of the swamp have a hard time. Martha Coakley? No thanks, we'll take the Republican instead. But Deval Patrick came from outside state government, and we liked him well enough. Likewise Mike Dukakis was obviously an outsider to the rest of the legislature, and he could get elected statewide. We should have had Governor DiCara or Governor Pines, or maybe both at different times, but the machine made sure that was never going to happen. If it was up to me we'd fire the lot of 'em and start over.

No longer. They got rid of that this past summer. Super-delegates will only vote in a deadlock.

They're also trying to get rid of caucuses.

2020 will the reverse of 2016. For 2020 the Republicans might have one challenger to Trump while the Democrats will have 15 or 20 candidates vying for the nomination. How far in will Warren make it?

Exactly. I mean, I loathe Trump with all my being, but if I see a statement that includes "Grifter in Chief" or something like it, as much as I agree with the insult, I doubt the clarity of the surrounding statement.

The problem is the dems who are running in 2020 are too far to the left (Warren, Sanders, Harris) or establishment types (Booker, Clinton). They might win in the west coast (CA, OR, WA) and northeast but lose everywhere else.

Boston and the surrounding areas are very far to the left. The rest of the state seems more moderate
