Only 1,300 'reported' deaths in Wuhan (4100 in all of China), population 11,000,000, so according to the official numbers Wuhan and China were not wiped out. I know it is popular to say China lied about the number of dead in Wuhan, but we don't know this conspiracy theory for a fact.

And since we are on the subject of China and conspiracy theories, why did China go out of its way to create a 24/7 life stream Youtube channel showing them building hospitals?, when we are to simultaneously believe China is under reporting deaths. China lies a great deal, I will be the first in line to make that claim, but it seems more likely to me in hindsight that China was telling the truth about the number dead in Wuhan, the lie was that they knew the virus would disproportionately impact western Countries.

The problem becomes because governors are acting as dictators without any type of checks or balances. Different states and different governments or officials have taken draconian measures. You can always argue anything in the name of safety. I could go as far as arguing you can't drive a car cause it puts people at risk. There is no end to arguing safety for whatever reason.

Its interesting that many wonder how Hitler gained power, but it theoretical terms it isn't as crazy as people think. Most will follow a government measure whether it makes zero sense. They could start saying wear blue shoes with a red shirt and it helps with the corona virus, and I'm convinced 60% of people would do that and not ask any questions.
A bizarre line of thinking, but you're entitled to it. I have more faith in the American system of checks & balances than that.

I hope people can "see" your tongue firmly in cheek, before crying "racism"!

I would think in citys like Toyko social distancing would be impossible. Thats a densely populated area like new york city.

You ever see a bunch of japanese crammed into a train? They all have trouble fitting.

Ridership is down 70%. Employers are doing staggered work hours to minimize congestion at rush hour. People who can are telecommuting just like everywhere else in the world. It came up earlier in the thread but in Sweden which didn't lock things down, everybody I know is telecommuting. Most of those people are engineers at Ericsson or one of the other Stockholm tech companies so they're able to telecommute. That's pretty much universal around the globe. The Asian companies I've worked for, some of the hardware engineers and techs are in the office a lot but buildings are really empty. Manufacturing is a lot cleaner than some pork processing plant in South Dakota and they're able to maintain separation, masks, and hygiene.

executive order is just as powerful as law. Yes there have been judges that have ruled unconstitutionally. the excutive order power to presidents and governors are being abused. Free speech laws have been reversed by supreme court justices who disagreed years later.

A michigan congressman Paul Mitchell is suing Governor Witmer.........

The Michigan state legislature can override any executive order and override a veto of it. A Republican US Congressman suing is political pandering. The 10th district is the "thumb" of the lower peninsula north of Detroit and east of Flint. It has no cities.

The Model has changed format slightly. Some other information is plotted out.

It's interesting to see how they plot total infections vs actual testing data when you cycle through the various states.

Really wish this thread would turn back to MA-specific discussion, and less about national politics and global pandemic response. Plenty of other threads on that.

Yes the legislature can override any executive order. Wow that is interesting that it has no cities. Well you can call it pandering but it is sending a message.
