Anyone having issues with Whole Foods today? I don't know if it has to do with the super hot weather or something else but almost everything is "Currently Unavailable".

WTF?

I think you are in the minority.

You could I guess onboard someone in person, if the company allows it, and then let them go remote.
We onboard people completely remote. We ship them their laptop and get all of their accesses set up so it's all ready for their start date. We have not onboarded anyone in person since the middle of March.

Looking at the MA website, it looks like there will be a Phase 3 Step 2. It would be 3 weeks from Step 3 Phase 1 next Monday.

Only thing notable is small indoor concert halls and some indoor recreation.

Unless you are in Somerville. Then you get a delay to Aug 3 for Phase 3, Step 1

I assume I am also in the minority. We brought in a new Engineer about a month ago. Their on-boarding was done in person and then are 50% remote now.

However, i'm sure there are people out there in need of a job as I get calls from recruiters daily (as a hiring manager) asking me if I have any staffing needs. I've never had this many calls that I am actually blocking/avoiding some that call almost daily.

A study in South Korea found that:

Kids under 10 spread COVID at about half the rate of adults.

Kids 10 and over spread COVID at the same rate as adults.

I think there is a certain amount of "mitigation fatigue" that's setting in re masks and social distancing. The trouble is, the virus isn't growing tired of infecting people and most people have never had it.

Good for you!

I've lost 2 coworkers (both in their late 50s/early 60s) and an elderly family member, and had about 2 dozen more coworkers and friends get sick that I know of. 2 ended up in the ICU and more than half are publicly discussing the long term effects they have thanks to it, including cardiac, kidney, and cognitive issues or months of getting better for a week only to get sick again in a repeated cycle. These are mostly people in their 20s and 30s.

One friend's 4 year old didn't get particularly sick when they did, but now is on day 100+ of a fever every single day. In another household I'm friends with, both parents were sick for over a month, and for 2 weeks of that the mom was so sick that she probably should have been in the ER but was asked not to come in. Doctors recommended that neither parent be in the same room as their child or each other so that they didn't make each other sicker. Their 4 year old basically communicated with her parents via Facetime from the same house. She'd have to leave the room when one of her parents made food (or a family member would drop off on the front steps) and I have no idea how/if she bathed.

Most people I know have multiple people in their lives who have gotten sick and is now experiencing what may be long term disabiltiy and at least one who has died.

Recruiters must be freaking desperate right now.
