Erratic throwing accuracy, poor footwork that hurts to watch, and played at UNC... No surprise Maye was allegedly never even considered for the #2 pick by Washington.

Especially if you were gonna pick Joe Milton anyway, couldve gotten MHJ at 3. Clearly, if youre picking Milton after Maye, and you have 5 QBs including a "bridge QB" on your roster....you're not all in on Maye.

Beauty of C-D is this is very much on record, and I'll know where to find this in 4 years if I'm wrong. And I'll eat crow if I am.
I mentioned earlier on this thread the one quarterback I did not want the patriots to take was drake maybe. I thought pennix was the best option just don't play him until we get a good o line. Experts have said what pennix does translates to the NFL out of all the quarterbacks. Any QB you take is a risk. The QB I thought was the worst idea was maye and sure enough that's who they take. They don't have a good left tackle which they could have got.

Milton is a relative nonfactor and I don't think he says anything about the team's feelings about Maye. Milton's not going to be a starting NFL QB and I think the team knows that. He's a physical freak, but he's a seriously terrible passer which is why he wasn't taken earlier. I truly believe the team is hoping to convert him to TE (in spite of his initially saying he won't do it). If he doesn't flip to TE, the upside for him is that he shows enough flashes in camp and the preseason to warrant some trade value from a team that wants to try him further. Or he becomes an intriguing practice squad/scout team guy. There's no reason to cut either now, but Rourke or Zappe is probably gone before week 1. You're looking at a week one QB depth chart of Brissett, Rourke/Zappe, and Maye as your QB1, 2, and 3 options. A veteran, a QB2 so your rookie doesn't have to jump in in case of an injury, and the rookie. Pretty standard.

I like the Milton pick because 6th rounders are a relative longshot anyway. So why not take the freak athlete and see what you can do with him. If it doesn't amount to anything, no big deal. But he's definitely not a guy they see as potentially beating Maye for the QB of the future.
Completely agree. In the week before the draft, there were numerous rankings from former NFL quarterbacks who were very high on Drake Maye and said he should go 3rd. As you say, there are going to be sources of uncertainty in predictions, but these guys probably know as well as anyone, and certainly more than most fans.

Completely agree. For my taste, Maye is more of a "project" than I would have liked to see the team take with a #3 pick. This being said, sometimes you're "paying" for potential. Physically, this guy is way more gifted than Mac ever was. So, hopefully the team develops him in the right way instead of ruining him like they did with Mac (although who's to say he wasn't damaged when he showed up?).

The team definitely needed a QB and he was by most accounts the best one on the board.

Yup. Drafting is definitely not an exact science. More of these guys don't work out than do. Look at all the Ryan Leafs and Jamarcus Russells that were taken with even higher picks and were COMPLETE busts.

The Patriots picked up a Tight End in the 7th round - Jaheim Bell. Bell is undersized for a tight end - 6ft2, 241lb, with 4.6 speed in the 40 yard dash. He is is being described as a poor blocker, but has good speed and is super-athletic - more of a receiver. His basic physical stats and profile are similar to those for Aaron Hernandez - if he can actually play like that, he will be a bargain.

I didn’t have much interest in the Brady roast, however a friend texted and demanded I turn it on when Belichick was on. It was unexpectedly very funny, Belichick and Edelman in particular. Seems like Bill and Tom are good (bill and Kraft), not so much. Worth a watch is you have Netflix.

I've got to watch it. I had no interest, but several unbiased accounts have said it was pretty great.

I agree too much of a project.

I think Penix would be more ready after a year. And has just as many physical gifts as Maye and probably more maturity just due to the adversity he's been through and his age. But I completely understand not walking into a potential injury situation if you don't have to as a team.

ATL is hoping he just loves living in Atlanta and will be fine getting paid and filling in as needed. Seems disappointing if I'm Penix. Id wanna play football..I'm a football player.

I decided that I don't care. Remember Rick Mirer vs Bledsoe? Mirer went to Seattle as the first pick in the draft and posted a dismal 22-44 career record. Every pundit had him as the top pick.

I can't wait to watch the Brady Roast tonight; I forgot about it last night due to my traveling.
