He turned down a debate hosted by WCVB, WBUR, and Globe and another on NECN. He turned down an interview with WGBH. His campaign has decided to eschew non-conservative outlets and to appeal only to the reddest of the red.

By doing so he is avoiding actually policy discussion with the technocrat Doughty and losing any opportunity to speak to many independent voters. He was endorsed by the MA Republican party as well as the twice impeached defeated former guy and is sticking to that slice of the electorate.

He's going to win the Republican primary and will lose to Healy by close to 30 points. Then he can spend the next two years (and Rick Green's money) planning to run for Senate and fight it out in the primary against Shiva and maybe Charlie just to see who will lose to Warren.

Healy won by 28.2 points. Close enough for a trophy?

In the last month, Diehl disappeared. He canceled events due to rain, couldn't start a press conference because his crew didn't tell the press where to meet. IMHO, he was auditioning for a job on OAN.

Spot on. He really faded, maybe he knew that the Governorship was not even a remote possibility.

His crew told the press that he’d be speaking at the state house so the press gathered in front. Diehl and his crew tried to set up around back on state house grounds. They were told they couldn’t have a campaign event on state property. They finally showed up oh front on the sidewalk an hour later.

Yep, close enough!

I made the mistake of buying into the “Red Wave” talk and though that a combination of motivated conservative voters and something ranging between frustration and apathy among liberal voters (combined with polling numbers for Diehl) could potentially have brought it closer to a 10-15 point margin (still a big gap). But it turns out I was wrong.
