I always had my doubts with him after the whole Bridget Moynihan thing. Not saying you should stay with someone just because you got them pregnant...but I don't know. It was kind of messed up.

My understanding is the Giselle is a very hands on parent. Yes they probably have help but it's not like there are nannies raising the kids. She gave up her modeling career to raise the family while he played football.

IMHO, there was an agreement that he would quit after one year in Tampa and that final Super Bowl win. He didn't and then unretired for a 3rd season in Tampa. Also, Tampa was never the plan - he was supposed to go to Miami, play a year, and then take on a management/ownership position. But the whole tampering, throwing games, Flores lawsuit thing got in the way and he had to go somewhere and Tampa it was.

I'm a little surprised how quickly things seemed to have deteriorated. I watched the Man in the Arena docuseries, which was filmed pretty recently, and thought things were going well. I agree that divorce seems like an overreaction for something like playing football for another year+ and that it is something else.

Giselle didn't necessarily have to give up her modeling career...but most modeling careers don't go past one's 20's. She is 42. I'm sure she would have still gotten jobs but we live in a world where youth is celebrated particularly in the modeling industry. Times are changing but I just don't know how much demand there is for models in their late 30's/40's.

Most football careers dont go into one's 40's but Tom is kind of an anomaly and was making it work. I don't see what the big deal was if Tom wanted to play football for another year.

They are both still young in terms of life and I don't get all this pressure about retiring and ending their careers. Were they just going to sit in their mansions with their kids for the next 40 years?

She has a strong presence on social media so while her "career"might be over, what she got from it personally is not. She has been able to capitalize on these platforms to promote her next act of philanthropy and ecological awareness. She also publicly identifies as a devoted mother. Her kids are her world. Tom's entire identity since he was a child has been as a football player. He has reached elite status because of his drive and refusal to give up under any circumstances. That is why we all loved watching him play. His father said a number of years ago that when the time comes for him to leave the game, it was going to be ugly. When he leaves it will be in a blaze, glory or down in flames remains to be seen. Regardless, there were 3 in the marriage. Football was wife #1, G #2.
